Westley Engineering would like to congratulate WSP, the engineering professional services consultancy, which has now been appointed by Coventry City Council to develop the city’s Very Light Rail ( VLR ) project.
The project is due to be in operation by 2025, VLR will run between Coventry Railway Station and University Hospital.
Being battery powered, VLR will be zero emissions in operation and support better air quality and improved congestion within Coventry….. Great news for the region and highlights the concentration of Engineering talent here in the Midlands. The vehicle has been constructed within Coventry with a reliance on a regional supply chain where possible, showing the strength & depth of local manufacturing.
Westley Engineering are always keen to champion the use of lightweight alloys to reduce the weight of rolling stock, which in turn reduces CO2 emissions.
We have the opportunity to assist and advise rail customers with their modernisation aims using our knowledge of lightweight pressings. Their combination of strength & durability makes them well suited to the demands and rigours of public transport.
Consider involving Westley Engineering for your next rail project…
Quality & Service that's just the ticket.
